Nobody can imagine Thanksgiving festivities without a particular parade alongside with football, turkey and the pumpkin pie. Every effort of a great many of people is bent to the preparation of the parade which should include enormous rafts, extraordinary melodies and participation of the famous actors and singers. The wider is the parade the better.

The first parades were organized at the beginning of the 20th century with the purpose to draw people of any age into the fiesta activities. A lot of tourists are attracted by splendid Thanksgiving parades as they are always a wonderful performance, being an inalienable and compulsory component of the festival which takes place every year on the fourth Thursday in November. Nobody can find any written papers on the appearance of the Thanksgiving parades.

But it is known that people could watch the Thanksgiving parades for the first time in the year when President Abraham Lincoln announced Thanksgiving a state festivity. Summer of 1863 was rather successful for the country, so it was clear for everyone the official holiday announced by the present President should be celebrated with the largest scope. So it was necessary to organize parades. At first only soldiers took part in this arrangement, but now the Thanksgiving parades are mostly very beautiful and noisy measures.

There exists another opinion on the origin of Thanksgiving parades. They think people organized it in Philadelphia. It is called Gimbel's Thanksgiving Parade and is thought to be the first one in America. It was a large shop with the name Gimbel's that initiated the arrangement in order to promote its own mark. A great number of other stores decided to follow this interesting tradition. Thanks to television everyone in the country have an opportunity to watch those magnificent shows.

No matter where the initial Thanksgiving Parades were organized, only in few years the whole nation understood that these arrangements are very interesting and important. American civilization couldn’t be imagined without parades which are an inalienable element of the principal festivities in the country.

The main purpose of the parades is to gather in one place the relatives and acquaintances and make them spend time together. Another aim is to entertain children in order all of them be glad. So you can see a lot of bright placards, large balloons and merry placards everywhere in the streets. The organizers do there utmost to entertain people bring gladness into everybody's soul.

All are eager to touch lightly to the warm and merry atmosphere of the great event, congratulate each other and wish a happy Thanksgiving. Many people take their relatives and friends and forming large companies go to look at the Thanksgiving parades. There try never miss such a good opportunity to have merry time. The splendid parades are organized in every state of the country so there is exists a great hope that such a beautiful tradition will never die and the following generation will continue to meet at the parades on the fourth Thursday in November, namely Thanksgiving.
