Thanksgiving Crafts
Further along are presented several extraordinary handicrafts one may teach children or students to. You can decorate the room with them. Kids will be just delighted to make these beautiful things for Thanksgiving.
Traditional Pine Cone Turkey
The task of this craft is to make a 3D turkey. All you need to create it are a medium size pine cone, a sheet of construction paper of the autumn leaves color, a pencil or a pen, some glue, and scissors. To begin with you should take the kids out to the park to look for pine cones.
They will enjoy to find the cone they like best. Back in the class-room, the kids should put their hands against the surface of the construction paper. With the help of a pencil try them to have their handprints and after that ask them to cut them out, if they are big enough to do it. If they don't seem to manage it, help them doing so.
Now the child's handprint is ready to be glued to the back of the pine cone. The fingers will serve as the turkey's feathers! If the kids like, they may also make eyes, a beak and the wobbler with the remnants of the construction paper and glue them to the inside of the pine cone.
Autumn Leaf Turkey Craft
Children will be delighted to go for a stroll to gather autumn leaves and pine cones for this splendid craft! They should collect about 20 leaves of various bright colors and one small pine cone. To preserve the leaves from drying out and shrinking keep them for a while inside a book.
Then the kids should glue them to a cardboard. The size of the paper to glue on can be 8x11, but the bigger size provides the space for the bigger turkey! Mind the children glue the leaves as a semicircle, a kind of rainbow. Have them glue the pine cone in the bottom centre of the leaf fan. The next step is to make eyes, a beak and the wobbler using a colored paper. Glue them to the pine cone. Your fantastic turkey is ready!
Turkey Wreath
This work of art will be a real pleasure to the eye when hanging next to the entrance of your house. Use such things as the construction paper of autumn hues, scissors, glue, a large piece of cardboard, two paper plates (one bigger than the other ), and a black marker.
The kids may either work on their own or together with you. Actually, it is necessary to glue rolled strips of construction paper onto a round piece of cardboard. At the bottom you locate the head of the turkey. Use the foot print of a kid to reproduce this detail. Glue eyes, a beak and the wobbler cut out of construction paper scraps .
If you are a teacher, your students will have fun writing something they are grateful for on a strip of the construction paper prior to gluing it to the cardboard.
